Tonight when I was walking to the train after work, I had a moment in which I suspected this guy was going to make a grab for my purse. I was basically alone on the street with him, after dark, and he was behaving in a shady manner.
He didn’t actually go for it, if indeed he was considering doing so, and I forgot about it after a moment.
Then, at the end of the next block, as I was about to go downstairs to the train, a woman pulled to the curb and said, “Excuse me!”
I stopped and she asked me if the guy had given me any trouble, describing his clothing, and I assured her he did not. She then flashed a badge at me, and I noticed the person in the passenger seat with her.
I mentioned that I had gotten a funny feeling from him, without going into details, and she said, “You had a good instinct, we are going to go and see what he’s up to.”
There’s no point to this story, I just felt safe knowing that even though I felt alone, I was being watched over.
Or else there’s some crazy lady making the rounds on the UES.
And she wouldn’t be the only one.
