Tue Jan 3

I went to the strangest office holiday party last week.

R.’s company gave a party at an odd little place, almost in Coney Island, that had what appeared to be airplane toilets. (just a little something I noticed)

The entertainment consisted of two singers, one a man who I suspect was once a woman, and a woman who was dressed in sequins. And I mean, she wasn’t wearing anything that wasn’t sequined.

I wasn’t paying too much attention to them, as they were slipping in and out of Russian and French languages, but at some point in the evening (probably after I’d consumed a few shots of vodka) I suddenly heard “Because she’s homeless, she’s homeless. And she stands there singing for money…LA DA DI DA DI DA LA DA DI DA DI DA”

I wasn’t even stoned, but it felt like I was.

This was the only song they covered in English?  A semi- hit from the early 90’s.

How bizarre.
