Tue Dec 27

And now for something completely different. (More bitching and moaning)

I promise you that the next time my upstairs neighbor decides to run the vacuum at an inappropriate hour (lately 7 a.m. on Sundays and 2 a.m. on weeknights), there will be a significant amount of four-letter words delivered straight to her face.

With all of the noise I have to endure (the guy downstairs playing the same song for 6 hours, and that is not an exaggeration in any way, the 15 people who exit the elevator into our hallway at 1 a.m. every night and proceed to all speak at once at the top of their lungs as if there’s no one who could possibly hear them, NOT TO MENTION the 3 weeks of utter hell we endured in November when the apartment directly upstairs was being renovated) my restraint is limited.

I realize that it’s NY and that it’s unrealistic to expect peace and quiet all the time. But let’s not forget the 9 times in the last 4 months that the door to the roof has been opened after 10 p.m., setting off an alarm that nothing drowns out. And as the super is an (allegedly) functional alcoholic, he never wakes up to do anything about it. Calls to 311 have led nowhere, other than the fire dept showing up at my apartment and asking with all seriousness: Where’s the fire?

My point is that although I sound neurotic and high-strung, and while that is probably true, it’s only being exacerbated by the continuous onslaught of noise on a level that any sane person would find difficult to accept.

Lastly: Is it too much to ask that when my next-door neighbors have their 60+ family members over in the evening, once or twice a week, that they shut their door so that they at least appear to give a shit about disturbing other tenants?

I’m pretty sure that my entire floor is related, other than myself and R. In fact, it could be that the entire BUILDING is related.

I cannot wait for this lease to be up. Only 7 more months of paying for utter misery and despair.
